What Is Moca Cream Limestone?

Moca Cream Limestone is a sedimentary stone with a warm, pale cream-to-beige tone and a plain, even surface. It is one of the most widely specified limestone colors in commercial construction, because a cream background reads as neutral under almost any lighting and pairs with a very wide range of joinery, metalwork and feature stones. MGT Stone Co supplies this cream limestone as blocks, slabs and tiles for interior and exterior projects.

MGT’s Moca Cream Limestone is an Iranian limestone sourced from the center of Iran. As with every limestone, this material carries a high calcareous content and absorbs more water than marble or travertine — a characteristic that shapes where it should and should not be used.

Moca Cream Limestone Origin: Iran

This stone is quarried in Isfahan Province, Iran, and MGT Stone Co supplies it directly from that source. Origin matters commercially: it determines lead time, shipping route and the documentation your import process needs, so it is worth confirming on any quotation rather than inferring it from a trade name.

A note on the name. “Moca Cream” — also written Moca Creme — is a commercial description of a creamy taupe colour family, and several producing countries use it. The best known stone carrying that name is Portuguese. MGT’s Moca Cream Limestone is a different stone: an Iranian limestone. It is offered on its own merits, and any specification, test data or technical documentation for a Portuguese Moca Creme does not describe this material. If your project references Moca Creme from another origin, tell our export team at enquiry stage so the correct material is quoted.

Appearance and Visual Character

The defining quality of Moca Cream Limestone is calmness. This stone face can have very slight parallel waves or can be simply plain. You can order any of them that you like.

Because the tone is warm rather than cold, Moca Cream Limestone softens interiors that would otherwise feel hard — lobbies, corridors, stair cores, and reception areas. It is frequently used as the quiet field material, with a darker or more figured stone introduced as an accent.

Available Commercial Forms

MGT Stone Co supplies this stone in three commercial forms.

Moca Cream Limestone Block

Blocks are extracted and squared into clean rectangular shapes, which keeps waste low when the block is later sawn into slabs.

Moca Cream Limestone Slab

Moca Cream Limestone is at its strongest as a slab. Slabs are generally free of the holes and cracks that force other materials to be resined and laced, so they can be produced without added reinforcing material. Large dimensions are achievable, and limestone slabs perform well in cold conditions — they remain workable below −25 °C and in regions with acidic rainfall.

Moca Cream Limestone Tile

Moca Cream Limestone Tiles are produced in standard sizes and cut to size on request. Limestone tile has lower resistance than marble and most travertine, so it is best specified for interior areas away from standing moisture and away from heavy foot traffic.

Where Moca Cream Limestone Works Best

Moca Cream Limestone is suited to interior and exterior use, and it is most commonly specified for wall cladding, lobby and corridor floors, stair walls, reception areas and building facades where a consistent, warm neutral is wanted over a large area.

Two honest limitations should be planned for. Water absorption is high compared with marble and travertine, so MGT recommends a suitable protective treatment anywhere the stone will meet moisture. And because tile resistance is lower, busy circulation floors are better served by a denser material — in those areas Moca Cream Limestone is often used on the walls while the floor is specified in something harder.

What to Check Before You Order

  • Format: block, slab or tile — this drives both cost and lead time
  • Finish: One of the most important parts of the production process, as it directly affects both the final appearance and the delivery time. It is honed for 90% of orders
  • Exposure: if the stone will meet moisture, build the protective treatment into the specification
  • Tone continuity: order the full quantity from one production run so the cream tone stays consistent across the project
  • Origin on the paperwork: this stone is quarried in Iran — make sure your specification and import documents record that origin rather than a generic trade name

Processing, Selection and Export Support

MGT Stone Co runs its own stone factory, so block, slab and tile production is handled inside a single chain. For an export order that means the tone, the finish and the format can be checked against your specification before the material is packed.

As a direct limestone slab supplier we manage limestone slabs supply from block selection through to packing, so one team stays responsible across the order. Send our export team the format, finish, quantity and destination market you need and they will confirm what can be supplied.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is MGT’s Moca Cream Limestone from?

It is quarried in Iran, and supplied directly by MGT Stone Co. “Moca Cream” is the commercial name we market it under, not a statement of origin.

Is this the same as Portuguese Moca Creme?

No. “Moca Cream” / “Moca Creme” describes a creamy taupe color family used by producers in several countries, and the best known stone of that name is Portuguese. MGT’s Moca Cream Limestone is a different material — an Iranian limestone. Technical data, test certificates or specifications issued for a Portuguese Moca Creme do not apply to this stone. If your project specifically requires material from another origin, tell our export team at enquiry stage.

What is Moca Cream Limestone used for?

Wall cladding, lobby and corridor floors, stair walls, reception areas and facades. It is chosen where a large area needs one consistent, warm neutral tone rather than a figured or patterned stone.

Can Moca Cream Limestone be used outdoors?

Yes, and MGT supplies it for exterior work. Because limestone absorbs more water than marble or travertine, external areas should be specified with a suitable protective treatment. Limestone slabs handle cold well and stay workable below −25 °C.

Is Moca Cream Limestone suitable for high-traffic floors?

Limestone tile has lower resistance than marble and most travertine, so busy circulation floors are usually better served by a denser stone. A common approach is to use the stone on the walls and specify a harder material for the floor.

How do I get a quotation?

Send your required format, finish, sizes, quantity and destination port through our contact page or by email. Our export team will confirm availability and provide a quotation — prices are not published on the website.
